Back to NewsWA books contribute to £3,800 to charity
This week Westminster Academy was thrilled to hear the impact of a charitable book scheme the school participated in. By selling the books we no longer required online through The Book Rescuers, we contributed to the over £3,800.00 raised for the partner charity of The Book Rescuers, the African Children's Educational Trust (A-CET).
A-CET funds long-term scholarships for locally selected vulnerable youngsters who, without support, would be unable to attend full-time education. In addition they build and upgrade rural community elementary schools using local labour and materials. You can read more about their work on their website: http://a-cet.org.
In addition, the organisation made donations during the summer term totalling over £500.00 to The Rainbow Centre, Sri Lanka. You can read more about The Rainbow Centre and the fantastic work they carry out at the following link: http://www.rainbowcentresrilanka.com
