We are looking forward to welcoming our new cohort to Summer School 2021, and the new academic year.

We would like to remind you of the following key dates:

• Tuesday 24 – Friday 27 August: Summer School 8:45 am – 3:00 pm

• Friday 03 September: Term 1 begins for Year 7 students 8:15 am

• Tuesday 14 September: Year 7 Parents’ Welcome Evening

Summer School

The Summer School is an integral part of the transition process and offers a fun programme of activities which allow all students the opportunity to adapt and feel comfortable in a new environment, learn routines and systems, orientate themselves in the building, meet the staff, and get to know fellow students. The Summer School day will run from 8:45 am until 3:00 pm. Students should arrive in full Westminster Academy uniform, their Primary School uniform or smart dress (shoes, trousers and a shirt), at the Torquay Street entrance (next to Academy Sport) at 8:45 am. They must bring a pencil case and equipment (including water bottle) with them. Lunch will be provided for students.

Chromebooks

Westminster Academy allocates a Chromebook to all students to facilitate their learning using ICT.  As parents/carers you are asked to pay a contribution towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Chromebook and, at the end of Year 11, your child can then keep the Chromebook.  

The Chromebooks are set up and monitored by our IT team and there are safeguarding protocols built into them that will enable our IT team to supervise and monitor the websites your child is visiting, as well as prevent them from accessing sites that are not deemed appropriate by the Academy.  

To facilitate your child’s collection of the Chromebook, we are asking that you pay the contribution through our payment system, ParentPay. Your ParentPay login details and further information about how ParentPay works will be sent to you in the post during the summer holidays.

Westminster Academy Uniform 

It is extremely important that you order your child’s uniform from Ace Clothing as early as possible. You will be given the option to click and collect from Ace Clothing offices (social distancing measures will be in place to allow for the safety of customers and staff), or opt for delivery to an address of your choice.

Curriculum

With a long summer holiday ahead of them, your child can start preparing for Year 7 using the curriculum information here to explore the topics they will be studying next year. We also recommend getting lost in a good book!
