Exam triumph during lockdown

While most of us worked from home, Sixth Form students came on site during the winter lockdown to sit their BTEC exams as part of the career-related study element of the IBCP.

In January Science students came into the building for their Unit 1 and Unit 3 Applied Science BTEC exams, and across the two exams achieved a total of 11 Distinctions out of a possible 12! Ms Youlden, Director of Learning - Science, described it as a “fantastic achievement”, adding, “We're delighted that our first new cohort of IBCP Applied Scientists overcame incredibly challenging circumstances to sit their exams.”

Sixth Form BTEC Business students also achieved excellent results: every Year 12 Business student achieved a Distinction for Unit 2: ‘Marketing Campaign’, and Year 13s also achieved an average grade of a Distinction in their final two exam units, giving them the opportunity to achieve the best Level 3 BTEC qualification outcomes ever at Westminster Academy! Mr Paulus and Ms Jugoo said, “The Business team is immensely proud of their achievements and their exceptional resilience!”

We’re also pleased to report outstanding BTEC Music results for Year 11: 8 students came on site to sit their Music exam, and between them achieved 7 Distinctions and 1 Merit.

Congratulations to our remarkable BTEC students!
