A Day at the Museum

On Tuesday 14th of March, 8 of our Natural history 2 2023 03Year 10 students had the privilege to be part of a workshop at the Natural History Museum. This event was organised by the Naz Legacy Foundation which is a UK-based charity whose mission is to help young people by providing advice and assistance, programmes, activities and other support to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities. The students had the opportunity to speak with a number of researchers and scientists from the Natural History Museum and were gifted with a range of postcards and greeting cards. Additionally, they were involved in a challenge of facilitating their own discussion groups in preparation for the Naz Legacy Interfaith Iftar event which will take place on the 17th of April.

The WA students were able to familiarise themselves with the imminent event where they will be representing Westminster Academy alongside very important guests which will include Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, The Bishop of London, Imam Mahmoud OBE and Rabbi Daniel Epstein. The students were commended for their enthusiasm and how quickly they picked up key information. It was a fantastic day which helped the students to understand the key roles they will be undertaking as part of the Interfaith Iftar event and how they can support and celebrate faith in the centre of our vibrant and diverse capital.

Natural history 1 2023 03We could not leave the Natural History Museum without exploring some of its biggest sights including the dinosaurs, whales and volcanoes. The highlight of the day for many of the students was a trip to the dinosaur exhibit, especially getting the opportunity to see the T-Rex. Sofia in Year 10 said about the trip,“The WA students had a wonderful time on this trip! We had a great insight as to the many different ways we can support this interfaith event. We also had the opportunity to interact with the scientists of the Natural History Museum and gained more of an insight of their roles. Then we went on a guided tour of the museum with them, which left us all in awe.” It certainly was a wonderful day at the museum!
