Are you a calm, compassionate professional with a passion for student health and wellbeing?

Westminster Academy is seeking a dedicated School Medical Officer to join our committed pastoral team.

As School Medical Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting and protecting the health of our students. You’ll be the first point of contact for medical concerns during the school day, responsible for delivering first aid, managing individual healthcare plans, administering medication, and supporting the wider wellbeing agenda of the Academy.

Working closely with staff, students, families and external health agencies, you will help ensure every student is safe, supported and ready to learn. This is a key role in our community, and we are looking for someone who is both professional and approachable, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Administering first aid and managing day-to-day medical needs of students and staff
  • Creating and maintaining individual healthcare plans
  • Liaising with families, external health professionals, and the safeguarding team
  • Leading and supporting a team of trained first aiders
  • Supporting wellbeing education and health-related initiatives across the school
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has a valid First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
  • Brings experience in a healthcare, medical or pastoral setting (experience in schools is highly desirable)
  • Is confident managing confidential information with discretion
  • Can work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families
  • Has a genuine commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of young people

Why join Westminster Academy?

  • A diverse and ambitious student community in the heart of London.
  • An innovative and supportive staff team.
  • Strong values-driven culture and leadership.
  • Real opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ life chances.

Westminster Academy offers a welcoming environment where your professional development will be supported, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a lead role in supporting students during their time at WA, working alongside an exceptionally talented group of colleagues who are committed to continued professional growth and improvement of the student experience.

Working arrangements and how to apply:

Whilst the advert formally closes on 30th June, we will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis and reserve the right to appoint earlier than the closing date.

  • The working basis for this position is Term Time + 1 week inset (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week).
  • This is an office-based role and will include school-wide activities and meetings.
  • Please find the job description and application form (parts 1 and 2) available to download below.
