Getting into the swing of Year 7 on the Kingswood residential

Last term our Year 7 students challenged themselves, developed new skills and got to know one another better on their residential trip to Kingswood Outdoor Education Centre, Kent. Our students tell us more...

This is a giant swing that some people were scared of, but I found it fun. Another activity I liked was the zip line; it was very fun. I liked the food too - it was really good, especially the hash browns. There was normal water and also flavoured water. I tried every flavour; they all tasted amazing. The best part of the residential was definitely spending time with my friends. It was so fun - when we had free time we were dancing and listening to music. Those are some of the ups and here are some of the downs: it was really cold, especially at night. And there was so many bugs! But I wish we could have spent more time there and or that we could have the opportunity to go again.

The residential was lots of fun. I made lots of new friends. Even though we had our ups and downs, people kept on pushing through. The best thing we did in my opinion was the zip lining. All of the teachers supported us and were friendly. I would really like to go back again (even though it was too cold in the tent!).

I enjoyed getting very, very muddy although I think I would have survived better if I had put on my wellies! My shoes were bubbling with mud (literally). I definitely did not get as much sleep as I wanted but I do think that I made up for it by how much I enjoyed the trip. I specifically liked getting to do the tyres exercise where you had to crawl through tyres to beat the person next to you. I felt I was challenged and I could really be enthusiastic about what I was doing. However, I do think that I should have braided my hair as it took an hour to get a helmet over my hair! The employees had to try various methods to get it on! I was extremely cold in those tents (it felt like I was sleeping in an igloo) but all in all I really think the trip was a good experience for me and I hope I have other experiences like this during my time at WA.
