On Thursday, July 17th, 2025, Westminster Academy came alive with the vibrant energy of our students as they participated in the annual Academy Games.

It was a day marked by incredible successes, teamwork, and a display of unwavering dedication and resilience from our remarkable students.

From the start of the day, to the closing ceremonies, the commitment and effort demonstrated by every student was nothing short of inspiring. Our students showcased their versatility as they took on an impressive array of sporting experiences, ranging from the sand of Beach Volleyball to the intense competition of Tug of War, from the precision of Table Tennis to the strategy of Boccia. Their competitive spirit lit up the Games.

The climax of the Academy Games was undoubtedly the students vs staff relays. The anticipation was palpable as all staff, students and community watched in eager anticipation. It was Year 8 Mirzakhani House that emerged victorious, capturing the glory of this highly anticipated event! 

Throughout the day, students were not only competing for personal pride but also for valuable house points, fiercely representing their respective houses. The competition was intense, and every point earned was a testament to their dedication and teamwork.

As the day drew to a close, the final marks were incredibly close, reflecting the tenacity displayed by all houses. In the end, it was FRANKLIN House that clinched victory, taking home the prestigious Sir Naim Dangoor Shield. The joy on the faces of Franklin students and staff as they lifted the shield was a memorable moment.

A day like the Academy Games would not be possible without the collective effort of our staff and students. A sincere thank you goes out to all of you for making this day so extraordinarily special and enjoyable. Your enthusiasm and dedication were truly the driving force behind the success of this event.

A particular thanks must be extended to our dedicated PE team, consisting of Ms Denis, Mr. Compton, Mr. Smith, Mr. Batousol, Mr Salih, Mr Afful-Brown, and Coach Dodi. Their tireless efforts in planning and executing the Games contributed significantly to the success of the day.

As we reflect on the thrilling Academy Games of 2025, the burning question on everyone's minds is: Which house will rise to the challenge and be victorious next year?
