Student experience: supporting Open Evening as a Subject Prefect

Over the past month, WA has been welcoming young visitors to the building to give them an insight into life at WA, during our Year 6 Open Day events.

The events have also been an enjoyable way to bring our school community together and strengthen our student leadership teams. Ambassadors have been on hand to greet visitors and tell them all about WA as they give them tours. Subject Prefects have had the job of telling people all about learning experiences in different subjects. Isabella, one of our English Prefects, tells us more...

Personally, I found Open Evening a wonderful opportunity for me to interact with a variety people and to step out of my comfort zone. Within the English department there were many interactive games and stations to guide prospective students through. The book tree was a particular highlight; students, teachers and visitors contributed their favourite books by writing them on leaves which were then added to a tree on the whiteboard. As a student, it was a great experience where I was able to interact with others in a manner that can’t be replicated within a classroom, therefore making it extremely valuable!
